YYY Foundation was set up in the aftermath of the earthquakes that hit Nepal in April 2015. In the five worst hit regions the destruction was
almost total. Countless villages lost 98% of the buildings. Nepal lost 16,000 schools affecting 1.5 million children. Working directly in Nepal, we help to rebuild schools, thereby enabling communities to prosper.

Our approach is a little different; as a Nepalese lead initiative we are working in partnership with village elders giving only the help that they need – mostly structural engineers & master builders plus new materials, while locals provide the labour. For the most part the villagers manage the project themselves. Our aim is to help people to help themselves to avoid creating an aid dependent society.

We aim to fund the rebuild of as many schools as we can. The average cost of rebuilding a school is between £15k & £20k, although this is only a guideline.
